Basic Sitemap - automatic tool to generate xml sitemap for blogs

Basic sitemap is a web application that been developed to built xml sitemap. Sitemaps are considered as the simplest and easy way for webmasters to inform search engines about pages or content on their sites. It is capable of generating sitemap for WordPress, Tumblr and blogger blogs. These sitemap can be submitted to Google and Bing webmaster tools for indexing.

Working of Basic sitemap [ http://nvmk.github.io/BasicSitemap/ ] is very simple. Figure show the snapshot of basic sitemap. In the left site you can see a text box. User need to enter his or her blog address in this text box. The address entered should be complete.  For example http://abc.xyzblog.com . User never forget to enter prefix http:// and avoid using country domains such as .co.in, com.om etc. Once the user entered the address of blog, press ‘generate sitemap’ button. Then it will automatically generate the link to sitemap.

This sitemap can be used to index search engine. You need only to copy this link and past to Google or Bing webmaster tools. This will direct search engine to index your recent post and updates.

Comparing database management tools

Database is the storage location for related data. There are different data base management systems (DBMS) available in market. The primary function is to store and retrieve data as requested by other applications running same or remote computer. Most of them have same features. People are confused with what data base management system that they had use.  Even the programmer has the same doubt. I wrote this post to help them. I am not indented to mention one is good over other. I just want to specify some of them and to make an awareness of DBMS. It will surely help you to select one DBMS suitable for your project. Popular data base management system includes Mysql, PostgreSql, Oracle, Access, Mssql and IBM DB2.

• MySql  : MySq initially known as MySql AB developed by Sun Microsys. Later it merged with oracle system. It is free data base management tool use in web applications and page designing. It can be used for small projects involving three to four member teams. Moreover it is the central component of LAMP.

• PostgreSQL : PostgreSQL or similyPostgre is an object-relational database management system (ORDBMS) developed by PostgreSQL Global Development Group. It is written in C. And available for Windows, Linux and Mac platform.  It is released under the PostgreSQL License, which is an MIT-style license, and is thus free and open source software. In most open source operating system it is included. But it is not commonly used in application development.

• Oracle : Oracle is an object-relational database management system manufactured by Oracle Corporation. It is build using both C and C++.It is a payed software that can be used for large projects which need more accurate data storage and custom function processing.

• IBM DB2 : It is another kind of object-relational database management system manufactured by IBM. Its initial version released on 1983. It is written using both C and C++.  It is not free software. DB2 can be administered from either the command-line or a GUI. DB2 has APIs for FORTRAN, C++, C, .NET CLI, Java, Python, Perl, PHP, Ruby, and many other programming languages. DB2 also can be integration with Eclipse and Visual Studio. Moreover it has error handling ability.

• Microsoft SQL : It is a relational data base management developed by Microsoft cooperation. It has been build using IA and .NET Framework. You can run it only in windows platform, which was one of the drawbacks. Microsoft had least a dozen different editions of SQL Server aimed at different audiences of different workloads.Its primary query languages are T-SQL and ANSI SQL.

• MS Access : It is also known as Microsoft office access. It is developed by Microsoft. It is included in MS office package. Even it is part of MS office, you can buy it separately. It’s a combination of relational Microsoft Jet Database Engine with a graphical user interface and software-development tools.It can import and directly linking of data stored in other databases, which is one of the greatest advantage.

Comparing Java and PHP

Java and PHP are two popular languages used in web application development. It is not fair to compare them. Comparing java with PHP is similar to comparing apple with orange. Both have almost similar features.  So we can’t able to mention one is better than other. 

PHP is the short of ‘Personal Home Page’, but it now known as ‘Hypertext Preprocessor’.  PHP is one of the first developed server-side scripting languages that can be embed inside html. It was originally developed by Rasmus Lerdorf in 1995. Now we have a PHP team for modifying and introducing new versions. They made it free under General Public License (GPL).  You can download it freely from php.net. 

PHP belong to unprofessional class of language. But it is good for people who own their own websites or for smaller companies.  It is considered as the best tool developing small web applications or pages with a team of maximum three or four members. It is the most important advantage of PHP. It is because development was much faster, and you were less likely to step on your team member’s toes as you developed. It allows programmers not yet understand MVC architecture to build their web pages by querying a SQL.  Moreover it is easy to study. It makes PHP the favorite language for programmers. 

Initially PHP doesn’t have IDE or it doesn’t support OOPs. It was considered as one of the greatest drawback up to PHP 4.3. But with the introduction of PHP 5 these limitation are overcomes. Now it support OOPs or procedural programming and provides a varity of IDE like Eclipse or RSA.  It doesn’t require variable declaration, it is optional like matlab. One of the greatest limitations of PHP is that it can be used for only server side programming, because it is less portable. And PHP is weakly and dynamically typed.

Java is the most popular general purpose programming language created by James Gosling at Sun Micro-systems in 1995. It has more than 10 million users. It belongs to stretchered class of language. Its syntax have similarity with C and C++. But it has a simpler object model. It is also released under General Purpose License (GPL).  So it is free to download. You can download it from Java Devolopers.

Once of the most important feature is portability. Java applications are compiled to bytecode that can run on any Java Virtual Machine (JVM) regardless of computer architecture. This make JAVA to develop both clients based and server based applications. JAVA is strongly typed. It need variables to be declared. It has uniquely defined OOP. It makes it very powerful. Moreover it is supported by very large varity of IDE, which really simplify developer’s job. They are suitable for large projects have more than five members in development team. Java is complex in nature that makes development slow. But it can accurately fulfill the need.

Java seems to be the most common web language used in the corporate. Most of the cooperate applications are building using java. And suddenly switch to PHP is not possible. So when you step into some cooperate environment, you will surely need to deal with existing java applications. It becomes very hard if you don’t know basics of java. It would be the primary reason for corporations looked into Java developers.

Micromax Funbook: It is developed by Micromax. Its Price is just Rs.6499. It android 4.0.3 ice-cream sandwich based tablet bundled with features like 512 MB Ram, Wi-Fi, 3G, USB, Capacitive 17.8cm Multi-Touch Screen, 0.3 Mega Pixels VGA camera, Li-Ion battery with 5 hours backup. Funbook is primarily designed for students. It available in Midnight Black & Slate Grey colors.

Akash: It’s the India’s most popular budget tablet. Akash or Akash -I is commercially manufactured by Datawind. It is actually designed by student at IIT. It price is just Rs.2500. Its features include: Android 2.2 OS, 256MB RAM, 32 GB expandable memory, wi-fi, replacement warranty etc. It has a lot of drawback including: delayed response, slow processing, no multi touch, rough touch panel, battery life and you cannot make calls. Moreover I here’d that Datawind had stopped producing Akash 1.

Ubisalate 7+ : Ubisalate 7+ or Akash-II is the second generation of Akash-I. It is commercially manufactured by Ubisalate. Its Price is just Rs.2999. But this tablet will be available for students in urban and rural areas at a subscribed price of Rs.1200. Its features include: Android 2.3 OS, Graphic accelerator and HD video processor, 256MB RAM, 2GB internal memory, GPRS, Wi-fi and phone calling facilities. It overcome only some drawback of Akash-I.  It also has drawback like: slow response, no multi touch, resistive touch and quality.
